Allergies, Ob/Gyn In Medical Update Spotlight

The medical update sessions for APA's 2005 annual meeting will cover a broad range of topics and offer state-of-the-art knowledge.
On Monday, May 23, Richard Brown, M.D., who has presented a series of medical updates on complementary and alternative medicine at the past several annual meetings, will present “Get Smart Naturally.” He will review cognitive-enhancement strategies using alternative medicine substances and yoga breathing.
On Tuesday, May 24, Sarah L. Berga, M.D., chair of the department of gynecology and obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine, will speak on “Stress-Induced Anovulation: Mind Over Matter.”
Claudia Miller, M.D., a professor of environmental occupational medicine and family and community medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, will give a presentation on Wednesday, May 25. She will discuss environmental allergies in a lecture titled “Okay Inside Their Head, But What's Under Their Nose?”
On Thursday, May 26, Stephen T. Warren, M.D., chair of the department of human genetics at Emory University School of Medicine, will present the lecture “A Primer of Genetics for Psychiatry.”
It is always difficult to choose which of the great sessions at APA's annual meeting one should attend. The medical update series this year looks to be a group of sessions “not to be missed.” All medical update sessions will be held in the Georgia World Congress Center, Level 4, Room B403, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ▪
