Travel Award

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) has announced a national competition for up to three travel awards for psychiatry residents interested in alcohol-related research. Each award covers the cost of travel and three days of related expenses to attend APA's 2006 annual meeting, which will be held May 20 to 25 in Toronto.
The competition will be based on papers submitted to NIAAA that either report original research or consist of a critical review and suggestions for future research. Original research is highly encouraged.
The deadline for submissions is February 1. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited psychiatry residency program in the United States. Members of minority groups and women are especially encouraged to apply. Only one submission per applicant is permitted.
Winners will present their papers to a group of senior alcoholism investigators at an open session at the annual meeting. Each presenter will have 15 minutes for presentation and five minutes for discussion, followed by an opportunity to meet with the investigator panel and NIAAA officials regarding research training opportunities and specific research questions.
Detailed instructions for submissions and additional information are available by contacting Beatrice Edner by phone at (703) 907-8598 or e-mail at [email protected].
