APA Election Update

There have been some changes to the slate of candidates running in APA’s 2013 election. The race for secretary now has three candidates, with the addition of Roger Peele, M.D., as a petition candidate. His opponents are Maria Oquendo, M.D., and Ann Marie Sullivan, M.D. In the race for minority and underrepresented trustee, Renato Alarçon, M.D., has withdrawn his candidacy and been replaced by Gail Robinson, M.D. Her opponent is Stephen McLeod-Bryant, M.D. And Kathryn Kenney, D.O., has withdrawn from the race for member-in-training trustee.
The names of all the candidates and other election information can be accessed at the APA elections Web site at http://www.psychiatry.org/network/board-of-trustees/apa-national-elections. Here are some important deadlines to keep in mind:
•.
December 21: Candidates’ photos and Web-site addresses will be published in Psychiatric News.
•.
January 2: Voting begins. All members for whom APA has a valid e-mail address on file will receive an electronic ballot. Information on the candidates will be posted online and appear in a booklet accompanying the paper ballot.
•.
January 23: Deadline for ballot requests.
•.
January 31: Voting ends at 5 p.m. (EST).
