Clinical Consequences of a Formal Mode of Science of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy

The paper presents some clinical implications of recent findings stemmingfrom the mathematical analyses of quantified measures of the therapeutic dialogue. Of note is the lawful aspects of how we communicate and the relationship between communicative vehicle and contents or meaning, conscious and unconscious, what is expressed. Likely quantitative indicators of countertransference are described. Based on existing results, both seemingly errant and constructive styles of intervening are identified. A forecast of future changes in clinical practice and theory that are likely to arise from formal science research concludes the paper.
