From the Editors of FOCUS

As editors of FOCUS, we are pleased to introduce a new feature of FOCUS that provides clinically relevant information in the core competency area of Communication Skills. This new “Communication Commentary” column in FOCUS is edited by Dorothy Stubbe, M.D., who is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. This is part of the APA's and FOCUS' commitment to ensure that psychiatrists stay current and up to date with regard to Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and the core competencies of physician practice: medical knowledge, patient care, practice based learning, professionalism, systems based practice, and communication skills.
