Music Festival Offers Another Leisure Option to Meeting Goers

If you happen to hear a joyful noise being made near the Georgia World Congress Center, don’t be surprised—it’s the Shaky Knees Music Festival, which is being held May 13 to 15 in Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park and International Plaza.
The festival will include some 75 bands playing on five stages, an art market, festival food trucks, and other attractions. Bands playing include a diverse lineup ranging from world-renowned acts—Jane’s Addiction, My Morning Jacket, and Florence and the Machine—to up-and-coming acts. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. each day.
The festival has been a popular Atlanta attraction since its inception in 2013. For APA members bringing family members in tow—especially teenagers or young adults—the festival may be a winning attraction. Apart from the music, the food trucks will feature local Atlanta fare and southern delicacies. If southern BBQ sounds too calorically rich, you can try the vegetarian-friendly corn dogs.
The park is only steps away from the Georgia World Congress Center, making it easy to take a break between afternoon scientific sessions or spend the evening enjoying spirited performances.
The festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors to Atlanta; if you have not yet made your hotel reservation for the Annual Meeting, you are encouraged to do so now. ■
Tickets are $97 a day; an advance three-day ticket is $219. To obtain more information and purchase tickets, click here.
